I’m Karen. I consider myself a life-long learner and adventure enthusiast.
My mission is to be happy, learn things, and have fun. My second mission is to help others be happy, learn things, and have fun.
I’m a nerd that loves reading, research, writing, and learning. My topics of choice? Mental health, travel, and true crime. I also enjoy exploring new places, ideas, and ways to laugh.
My career in youth work has taken me from group homes to workshops to exchanges and I’ve loved every step of the way. The teens I’ve had the pleasure of working with have taught me so much about the importance of mental health.
I decided to create life skills workshops for them. In these workshops, we’d talk about everyday struggles. Relationships, communication, self-esteem, work, autonomy, financial stress, social media. You name it, we discussed it. Many times, the staff participated as well.
“Can I take these workshops?” was the most common question from fellow youth professionals when I’d deliver these workshops in their organizations. So I decided to do just that.
Our minds are a beautifully powerful thing and can really affect how we live our life, make decisions, and cope with all of the lemons that are thrown at us.
The same way we take care of our physical bodies by eating healthy and being active, we need to take care of our minds and keep them healthy.
How do we even do that? By showing your brain some love. Feed it with curiosities and nutritious food. Work it out with books, puzzles, and thinking about what interests you the most. What it all looks like is really up to you.
One thing to keep in mind is to have balance. Work hard, play hard, relax hard.
Let’s chat, I’m really excited to work together.
